How XYBA Works
How does the XYBA work? How do we determine teams? How many times do we practice? Are there “A” and “B” teams? How are coaches chosen? These are just a few of the questions we regularly hear. Please read the explanations below or visit the age-appropriate page for more information.
Teams: Teams at the various age levels work differently. You are encouraged to visit the grade level for your child (navigation across the top) which is appropriate for your needs.
Coaches: Coaching will be done by parent and community volunteers at all levels. When possible, we will try to have non-parents at the upper levels. If you have a concern about a coach, reread XYBA Team expectations and, only if you believe there to be an infraction of the expectations, call the Boys/Girls Director. However, the Directors will not substitute their judgment over the coach’s. At no time (practice or games) should the coach be confronted in public.
All coaches will be selected by the XYBA board!
Cost XYBA requires a membership fee which depend upon the age level of your student-athlete. This is due to the varying degree of tournament participation at the various age levels. Please refer to the Grade of your student (horizontal links near the top of this page) for more specific information. This membership fee must be paid before the registration deadline. Your XYBA uniform must be purchased and should be reusable for multiple years. You will be responsible to re-purchase a uniform should it become lost or no longer fit. It is our intent that as the organization creates a financial foundation, we will be able to provide equipment and financial support for the high school program
For the 2009-10 year, the costs are:
4th Grade ($70) 5th Grade ($95) 6th Grade ($120)
7th Grade ($150) 8th Grade ($180)
Parents as Volunteers: ALL parents are required to volunteer time at tournaments sponsored by XYBA. You will receive information about volunteer opportunities
